Our Olives
As one of the country's five olive processors, he supplies Love Olive with our three main olive types - green, Kalamata and natural black olives - whose varietal names come from this region they are grown and not from the tree.
Our green olives come from Halkidiki, the northern region of Greece, south of Thessaloniki. Kalamata in the southern Peleponese produces the famous olive of the same name and has its integrity protected with a recognised Proof of Designated Origin. Only olives from the region can now be called Kalamata. Moving south, in the foothills of Mount Parnassos in central Greece you'll find the huge olive-growing region of Amfissa. It's here that our black olives grow. And if you are talking specialist wrinkled black olives, these come from the North-Eastern Aegean island of Thassos. Originating on the hot and dusty island of Crete, our olive oil is pressed from the famous Koroneiki olive.
Through our experience and passion, Love Olive has developed a number of personal relationships that have secured the best olive selection in Ireland. Through independent buyers we source premium quality olives from Europe, the Middle East and beyond providing an unrivalled choice that gives our customers the pick of the best olives from any growing region on earth.
90% of our olives are sourced in Greece and from one supplier, Mr George Kentris, as continuity of supply is important. But there is another reason too. Given the varying terrain and temperatures, soil systems and growing conditions, at Love Olive we consider the Greek olive to be unsurpassed.
